Village Hall and PCC Reports

FULBECK VILLAGE HALL REPORT

The Village Hall has been closed since 2nd December 2020, but we have been busy carrying out repair works. The roof on  the Village Hall has received attention and hopefully the pesky squirrels have left. Thanks to Julian Fane for trimming back  the trees so their launch pad has been removed. You will have noticed that the potholed area on the sports club car park has  been resurfaced with a much tougher material. Hopefully car drivers will take care when using the repaired car park. For tunately, the Village Hall has received help from government grants during this pandemic. Also, thanks to the Parish Council and Sports Club for their contributions.

The Christmas decorations put up by the Village Hall committee looked lovely and very festive, which was just what we need  during this pandemic. Unfortunately, the night before they were due to be taken down, the lights from the small trees outside  the Village Hall were stolen, and the lights and decorations on the village sign were destroyed. Broken pieces were even  found on North End Green. This mindless vandalism by unknown individuals is despicable and totally unacceptable.  The decorations were bought with funds raised by villagers from village events.

I hope the vandals will bear this in mind before considering any further malicious damage to village property

On a happier more positive note, the band “Spirit of the Sixties” has been booked for a village Christmas party In the Village  Hall on Saturday, 11th December. (Please make a note in your diaries). You may recall we had a hugely successful  Christmas party a couple of years ago with this band playing, including a fancy-dress competition which was hilarious.  Fingers crossed we will have beaten the virus by then and things will be back to normal (whatever that may be!).

FULBECK P.C.C.

Church services in Fulbeck have been suspended due to Covid-19 but there may be other services in the South Cliff Villages  Group. See website for details. Fulbeck Church remains open on a Wednesday for private visits. If you would like to receive  the Rector’s weekly newsletter, please email irismorison@live.co.uk or ring 01400 279100

As you may know, the Village/Church clock is not working but hopefully will be repaired shortly. Grateful thanks to the Village Hall, Parish Council and Tom and Camila Brown for donations.

The iconic Beech tree in the churchyard has been surveyed and has received surgery. It should remain beautiful now for  many years to come. Thanks to Nigel and Gilly Brown for their donation towards the cost, which is very much appreciated.
